What the service does
Visit Japan Web lets travellers complete immigration, customs and tax-free shopping procedures online. The Digital Agency publishes the official service link 1.
The service is not a visa application and does not decide whether a traveller meets visa requirements.
The government warning
On 9 November 2023, the Digital Agency said it had confirmed a suspicious app masquerading as Visit Japan Web and asking for credit card details 2.
The agency says the real service does not request card information and does not ask for money 2.
Safe checks
If you entered card details
Call your card issuer and explain that you entered details in an imitation app. Ask it to monitor or replace the card.
